another week

here we go... another week... I want so much to make it a productive one. I seem to be struggling in crossing things off the to do list and it's starting to get to me. It's as though there is so much to do (or that I want to do) that when I sit down to work I can't seem to really get going and end up piddling around on the internet and being absolutely distracted by anything and everything that doesn't need to be done RIGHT now.

So I need to bite off a smaller chunk, a piece at a time but which piece? Of course while being distracted yesterday I remembered a podcast my gf Margie had mentioned (Hi Margie!) on productivity/workflow and I decided to download that and listen as I tried to get my work mojo going but then it pointed me to new tools for organization and to do lists (which makes my mouth water with excitement.. yeah I'm a geek like that) and then I was off downloading and learning about a new program to keep me organized and productive. So eventually I just decided after about 4 hours of accomplishing little that I was just going to step away... get out of my office and enjoy dinner with my husband and do 2 loads of laundry so I felt like I got something done yesterday.

Now time to do some employer related work and cross some of those things off the list too....

exhausted

I am struggling this... oh crap it's still before noon? yuck. having a hard time focusing and keeping my eyes open. I just want to curl up and take a nap SO badly.

First night with the ov watch was uneventful... as expected it said NF (Not Fertile)... I do find the strap a little tight and I think I might order the strap extender... something they came up with because this is a usual complaint based on what I've read.

I am curious as to when the Fertile Day 1 will pop up... will it be the same day I think it is? The day I think it is hasn't worked to date! lol

Based on the months that I have bothered to try and get a positive OPK... they have been saying CD 17 or 22... that's quite the gap! Time will tell.......

Happy Weekend! My DH and I + dog are off to my dad and step mom's place just outside Hanover.... we like to call it the Lakehouse.. cottage just doesn't seem to work. So we'll be chill-axing up there this weekend and we both have Monday off so we'll get two full days out of the weekend before making our way home Monday morning. Then I work Tuesday before I'm off again and not back in the office until the following Wednesday... I hope I can make it a truly productive holiday!!!! so much I want to get done just need to keep my ambition flowing.

What is wrong with me?

Catching up on so many blogs I read via my google reader and there have been a number of mentions about Mother's Day and of course not so happy Mother's Day posts from those who are struggling with infertility.... so I ask myself... what is wrong with me?

Yesterday was just another day. I called my mom and when I called to wish my step mom a Happy Mother's Day too my dad commented on how great I sounded. At which time I teased him... "as compared to what exactly dad?" lol laughs all around hahaha... was it just because we weren't with family for the day?

Maybe it's just our lifestyle at the moment... we don't have a pile of friends who we see regularly or talk to regularly with babies or babies on the way... the one couple we do see now and then is my ND and her husband and their little man and well..... I enjoy my time with them... they TTC'ed for 2 years, so I know she gets it.

I've noticed that the moments of shear agony and upset over a pregnancy announcement are few and far between... a good cry, a day or two of feeling down and I'm good to go again.

I can't compare myself to any of these women online or in my own life. I feel excited for them to have become moms. I continue my photography work with expectant moms and newborns and I'm excited to share a small moment in time with them. My saturday was spent with 4 generations of women. A photo shoot, a 13 day old newborn little girl, her mom, grandmother and great grandmother and during our little breaks to comfort baby I just kind of sat in awe of them... feeling lucky to be a part of their day and watching them soak up all the newborn baby love.

Someone asked me once how I can do that.... photography of expectant moms and babies when we don't have a child to call our own yet.... and at the time I just answered because I love it.... but the question sat with me and well.... These women and children and families all around me are great and wonderful and it is their experience, their little one... not mine! I know that our day is coming and I know maybe this isn't what I anticipated but somehow I'm not entirely surprised by it either... my husband and I have both had our share of obstacles both in our single lives and together and we've overcome them... this obstacle will be no different.

Perhaps my tune will change if this journey to becoming a mom takes more and more time but for now I'm okay... I'm walking this journey and I'm learning so much about myself and I trust that this chapter will come to an end and we'll start another chapter as new parents to our own child.

waiting to test...

...is so frustrating at times but more then anything today I just feel blah... I feel the need to be quite, reflective, grateful for what I do have.

This past weekend I was working at the computer for most of it while my husband painted our living room an awesome new brown/grey colour and even put a fresh coat of paint on the kitchen and all the trim on our main floor... the house feels so fresh and clean it just makes me want to finish organizing everything.

We have some acquired furniture we want to clear out and with this quarter's volunteer fire pay we've decided to get a new couch! Which is exciting... the livingroom will be completely done minus maybe a couple more prints for the walls, a second ikea shelve for the other side of the tv stand and a new lamp maybe. I have that urge to purge, purge, purge and clear things out so our house continues to keep working for us. We've been in our house 3 years now and even though 3 years ago we probably would have thought we'd be moving in another couple of years... I'm quite content to just stay put. It was A LOT of work to get into our first home and as soon as we did the value of our home shot up $40,000... we'd like a little more yard room but we have a great deck that could just be made a little better, we're on a dead end street, there's a park down the street, a little room for a swing set out from and someday if we finish the top deck we'd have a little sancuary at the back of our home just for us. Its dd our house is build into a hill and from the top floor you can walk out a back door to a weed infested yard about 8 feet deep that runs the lenght of our house.

anyways who knew this would become a post about the house. hun?! lol

weekend was great... productive, peaceful, quite, relaxing

I raked up the leaves on saturday and I have to say my hands are sore, but to keep them moving I started a new knitting project.... a simple 12 stitch width scarf that I'm planning to give my sister for Christmas. We're trying to cut out some of the expense of gift giving this year... fingers crossed we can keep the spending down and our family will appreciate the personal touch vs. the plastic gift card. Also my sweet husband washed my car and I cleaned it out, the winter tires are stack in the garage and ready to be put on, halloween stuff down (not that there was alot of it) but I couldn't get dh to put up the christmas lights (don't worry we wouldn't have turned tham on yet)... he told me that should only be done when its really cold out, tradition I guess to freeze you're fingers off while you do it. LOL

just about every piece of laundry is done, folded and away minus the stuff we had on... I love it when the laundry actually makes it into the drawers and the closet... I mean that is why we bought the nice new side/table dressers and closet organizer! lol

This is the time of year where I get into purge mood BIG time. Partly because it really needs to be done but also its me preping for our annual NY shopping trip with my step mom, her sister and their gf. This will be our 4th year. And of course a sign of the times we aren't going to go all the way to Rochester (2 night stay) and
instead opting for a day trip to the Buffalo area since they are finally getting a Christmas Tree Store (that is a pre-requisit for our decided destination, there has to be a CTS). CTS, TJMaxx and then likely the Walden Galleria and lunch at the cheese cake factory... oh my yummy! the purge keeps me from over spending and buying up stuff we really don't need and I never deviate to far from my shopping idea list. I'm even purging some furniture peices. I love it when everything has its place and a place for everything but getting there is a work in progress... watch... I'll get it all done in a couple years and we'll move.
